Launde Abbey, retreat & conference centre for Leicester & Peterborough dioceses and venue for our meeting of chairs of houses of clergy from across the country. It's a really useful time but also very good food and lovely venue.
Andy Salmon tries to share a bit of his occasionally interesting life and his infrequently stimulating thoughts with you the grateful reader!

Oh dear, Deva can't remember where they are!
They've only been here some 15 years or so but they seem to have forgotten which side of the river they are. This new sign went up last week. I know that we Salfordians bang on about this like a stuck record (to wilfully mix my metaphors!) but it just isn't right. If I was looking for something that gave it's address as Manchester I wouldn't look in Salford!

Launch of "Vimto Gardens"
The hoardings have gone round this site and work is starting. Locally it has been known as site E3 for quite a long time as that is how it was marked on a plan. It is now going to be known as "Vimto Gardens" in reference to the soft drink that used to be made on Chapel St. The advertising looks really good. The plans look really good too and we're looking forward to seeing the 14 town houses and 83 apartments completed. As you might be able to guess from the picture above they have a website at: http://vimtogardens.com/.

Filming the Lost Pubs of Chapel St
This is our Wednesday afternoon photography group (1-3 every Wed at St Phil's) doing some filming about the old "Borough Inn" which later became known as the "Dock & Pulpit" but has been closed for many years. There is currently a project documenting people's stories about the old pubs of the area and a website at http://lostpubs.org/. This video should appear very soon.
