This is one of the bridges on the Sustrans NCN route 6 crossing over the River Irwell. A good route and gorgeous in the sunshine,

Canal being reborn

The Manchester, Bolton and Bury canal is being reopened near our house at Middlewood Locks. For ages there seemed to be nothing happening but now it looks quite exciting! Still ages to go yet but it should be nice when it's finished. It does make you wonder why it was filled in. It was the train that did it in at first and then the car and lorry but it will be nice to have the canal back.
