Slightly disturbing!

Happy birthday to Rachel Mann. These are the cakes that Ali produced in the restaurant last night, which were very nice but just ever-so-slightly disturbing.

Hurts

A good gig. Only a short 45 minute set but it was their first live show. We were getting a bit of a nasty rattle in the windows from some of the bass notes but that probably only worried me! Most of the audience seemed pretty pleased. I'll post some proper photos tomorrow...

Visit to Liverpool

A good day out at Albert Dock. Zoe got some Beatles posters and a T Shirt, we enjoyed a wander around the Tate and a bit of shopping at John Lewis'. The Sculpture stuff at the Tate is really good. It's a shame that Manchester doesn't have a John Lewis (I'm not counting the Trafford Centre of course because that is always a horrible, horrible experience to go there)

Chinese New Year

Lots of people were in Manchester to celebrate Chinese New Year in and around China Town. It's always a popular and busy event but the crowded streets aren't easy to move around in and often the dragon looks like it's this far away. We had family unhappiness at our inability to get near enough to a food stall until they'd sold out of almost everything and didn't have any veggie stuff. Oh well, we found food elsewhere. This year is the year of the Tiger. Kung Hey Fat Choi!

Going for a run

It doesn't happen very often but here I am coming back from a run round Peel Park. I was listening to music on random play as I usually do when running but it gives you some strange choices. I picked up speed and sang along when Substitute by The Who came on. Arcade Fire worked well for running to but when Colleen came on with a beautiful, moody celloey piece it was a fantastic accompaniment to the scenery of Peel Park but much less helpful for running to!
